Hi.

System is a 3300Mxe with software MCD 4.0, latest release.

I have system that i need to change the ext number length. I wonder if there is any one out there that has any experience of doing this and what kind of problems i can count with? and of course if there is any smart tips do to this?

Regards U

Some questions:
Are you clustered with more than one controller?
Are you using embedded voice mail?

A non-clusted controller is pretty straight forward - just change the number. The embedded VM will be a bigger pain, since I believe you'll have to default it and start over via the Admin Mailbox.

You haven't said if you are increasing or reducing the number of digits.

Increasing should be easy. No worries about conflicts.

Reducing can be extremely difficult. You will need to audit your system beforehand to discover all the DN's and codes currently programmed.

Hi. I´m going do increase I have 3 number as ext lenght and you system is expanding. I´m using the embeeded voice mail. I think the voice mail is the tricky part.

I understand that I need to check the system well to find out all the numbers, is the some maintenace commande that i can use to investegate a ext. some commande the show that ext xxx is a member in a hunt group and a ring group and so on.

is there any advantages to do this change after a upgrade to release 4.1 or is there no differens?

No advantage before or after upgrade

Increasing VM # length will automatically pad the existing VM boxes with a zero. e.g. ext 200 vm would change to 2000 ext 221 would change to 2210. This change will be automatic in the voicemail.

If you want to use some other number other than the one automatically generated then you will have to delete the mailbox and recreate with the new number.
