Change the Device Name covention to something else 1

Is there a way to change the Device Name to something a little more discriptive. When we add phones it automaticaly names the device SEP234828jdi or something of the sort.

The device name is automatically assigned and is not editable. We use the description field to give a better idea of what the device is or who owns it. You can use the Device Name to search for devices by MAC addresses.

I was hoping there was a way to edit or modify the device name.

The nice thing about the Device Name being SEP + MAC is that you can run a Route Plan Report. Then if a catastrophic failure occurs, ie no backup, you can pull the RPR into Excel and extract all your MAC addresses. Not a fun thing to do but more fun than going to every phone to recover the MAC addresses.
