For some reason the autonumber in my form is starting with a number along the lines of 855540 and I need it to go from 1 to 2 to 3 and so on. I know this is probably an easy fix, but can someone help please? Thanks

have you assigned some kind of meaning to your autonumber, like a quote number or invoice number or something? You shouldn't; an autonumber should be a meaningless identifier. Why does it matter if the numbers are sequential?

It's possible to reset it so it will start at one, but that doesn't mean you will get sequential numbering. For instance, if you start a record and then discard it without saving, you will use an autonumber and now you'll go from 3 to 5....

If you want to make an autonumber field start at 1, you have 2 options:

1. Delete all data in the table, then compact database

2. Delete column, then add it back in again. This way does not lose data. Unfortunately, you cannot guarentee what order the numbers will be assigned to existing records

Also, double check the table structure for the AutoNumber field that it is set to Increment instead of Random.
