Where do I change the TERM in SCO Openserver 5 Everytime I login it asks for this and stalls our transmissions

Any help would be appreciated. %-)

Hi
Look in the .profile file in your home directory. I seem to recall that SCO has a script command imbedded in this file.

Comment out (in .profile):

eval `tset -m scoansi:${TERM:-scoansi} -m :\?${TERM:-scoansi} -e -r -s -Q`

and put in whatever TERM you require as the default.

HTH.

or eval `tset -s` and set the TERM environment from /etc/ttytype for those places that have multiple terminal types.
If you have only one type of terminal to use you could change the script that is used to generate the .profile for new users so you don't have to change this for all the users you add. Ed Fair

Hey, groovy - those faces in my post above must have been planted there by SCO on purpose!!! :)

Thanks everyone for your help. I will keep everything for future reference. The .profile change did the trick for me.

Thanks again. [thumbsup2]
