change td border

I want to change the td border color on an onclick event. When the user clicks on content in one of the td's other functions are run. BI want to give an indication as to the currently selected td. Right now my td borders are hidden. I've tried using border-color but I'm obviously doing something wrong. Can someone please get me started in the right direction? Thanks.
