I move between two networks. Instead of changing between static and dhcp manually, is there a way I can set it up for both networks or script it?

I have one ethernet card on my laptop and use it both at work and at home. When at home, I use my identified static IP, DNS, and gateway for access to the Internet. When I'm at work, I need to always go in and change the TCP/IP settings to their's. Because I do this very frequently, does anyone have and sample VB code, script or know of a solution for me to change predfined TCP/IP settings with a click of a button...?

An easy solution is to purchase another ethernat card but I don't have anymore PCMCIA slots available. Thanks for any help you can offer. :)

Windows 2000 can support up to five ip adresses. I have never used this feature but it should work. If not there are program you can download for your fix. “Reserve your right to think, for even to think wrongly is better than not to think at all”

Hi I had the same problem. I use win98 at work and home. I made a simple batch file to change the static IP and computer name in dos before windows loads up.

press 1 for home
press 2 for work

works fine.

If your work network is on DHCP, ask the administrator for a static IP.

hope this helps

A good fortune may forbode a bad luck, which may in turn disguise a good fortune.
