The system name is programmed in the System Options form. The first character Must be capitalized and not a number.

The RSD name is set when you format the RSD. The RSD name does not have to match the system name and is more useful as a date.

The backup contains the name however and can only be restored to a system that has that name. (I think?) OPSman is much more particular about names so be careful if you are networking/clustering this system.

I've been thru the system options form and do not see the old name nor where to put a name

I got it thanks I went by a number of times

So the RSD name is in vol format rsd?

Yes. However, the RSD name is an arbitrary name that you give it on the fly when you are doing a backup. It can be anything so long as you remember what it is and write it down, like on the RSD label. Before OPS MAN we'd give the RSD name as the Site Name and date, such as vol for RSD SiteDate. I don't recall if there was a character length limit or not. We always kept at 8 tho.
