Change Symbol in MC with AS

hi,

i'm sure this is much simpler than i try to figure it out. maybe someone can help me out here.

i'm mostly working with mm director. in director i can tell a sprite to change it's member. so it does the same animation with a different member.
now. i work on a portfolio for an artis. i want to let his paintings fade in. there are about 30 pictures. instead of creating an animation for each and then direct the movie there by actionscript, i thought i can make one animation on the timeline and stop it in the end. when the user wants to see the next pictures, the movie jumps back to the begining of the animation but changes the symbol (per example from symbol image_01 to image_02). is this possible in flash?

You can design a transiton (such as your fade in & out) and have 100 or 1000 pictures, paintings or whatever, go through that one single transition. Regards,
