I've spent many months developing a database in SQL Server with Access 2000 as the front end. The PC I've been developing this on has an NT operating system.

I'm at the point where I need to do a presentation of my database to our staff next week. When I open the database on a PC using win 98 or 2000, all of my formatting on my forms is screwed up.

I do notice a difference when I open a form in design view. In win 98, the ruler (on top of the form) goes up to 11 in full screen. In win NT, it only goes up to 8 in full screen. Anyone know how I can change that default setting?

Thanks in advance,
H. Barnes

Just guessing, but the first things I would look at are the screen sizes and screen resolutions. Things look different on a 15 inch monitor set to 800 by 600 then on a 17 inch monitor set to 1024 by 768. My apologies if you have already considered this.

I use NT at work and 98SR2 at home and I have not noticed a difference in the ruler bar except as a result of differences in screen size and resolution.

Hope this helps. Larry De Laruelle

Yes, that's what it is. I just determined that. I developed it in 800x600. So, any tips on how to get the forms to look the same for different resolutions?

I've heard that there is some 3rd party software out there that will do this.

I believe I've also seen some posts that had or reference code you can use to test the user's screen size and resolution. (Check the faq's on the Access forums; there might be something there.)

It all seems like too much effort to me.

I try to develop to the screen size and resolution that the user currently has. This works pretty well in most cases but can be a problem with a widely distributed app. In those cases, I design for the lowest common denominator -- smallest screen/lowest resolution.

Thanks Larry. Yeah, I came across a trial version of some "stretchware" for forms. *shudder* It worked great in one place, but not another. I think I'll just set a disclaimer in my presentation & set a standard for best viewing screen settings. This seems like too much work. ;)
