change row to columns

Will it possible to change rows record to columns using and display it in gridview. The number of rows I have to change to columns is unknown before running the SQL script. any idea would be appreciated.

do you mean a cross tab query/object? if not converting a row to a column doesn't make any sense. if you do mean a cross tab then I would implmement this in business logic, not presentation (code behind).
