Hi

I want to get a group of FTP users to see the home directory a root ie not /home/ftp/bob but rather /bob
I have set up the following options

ftpaccess added
guestgroup <users group name>

passwd amended
<user>:<password>:/home<user>/./:/etc/bash

so the /./ sets the root OK, but when I user a FTP client I cant see any files/directorys (passive mode), when I remove the above options I can see files/directorys. Funny thing is even though I can't see the files/directorys I can still drop files in, and move through the directorys (this assumes you know what directorys are there)

Any ideas.

Simon

The problem with your not seeing the directories may be because your ftp server does not have the "ls" or "dir" commands builtin.

If you're chrooted, then when you issue an "ls" to see what's there, the server tries to invoke the OS "ls" command, which it cannot do because the user is chrooted.

What ftp server are you using?

Hi

I think I see your point, so the ls command is in a directory/path that is no longer avalible to the user. As for the FTP server, it is the standard one with the newer versions of RedHat is it FTPS? something like that.

Ta, Simon
