I migrated to Symantec 9.0.
I have two seperate servers.
Server #1 has Symantec 7.6
Server #2 has Symantec 9.0
How do I make the new Symantec program (server #2)the primary?
Then what do I do with the old Symantec program (server #1)?

If they are under the same tree... in the system center console just right click on server 2 (on the left) and make it primary... you can click and drag the clients into the new server if you want...

They are both under the same hierarchy.
I changed the new program to a primamry.
Now how do I change the old one to a non primary?
We will be getting rid of that server as sson as this is complete.

You cant have two primary servers on the same hierarchy.. are you sure it didnt auto change to non-primary?

The hierachy shows like this

System Heirachy
--Norton Antivirus 1
--Symantec Antivirus 1

I unlock the Norton Antivirus 1 and the server status is Primary

I unlock the Symantec Antivirus 1 and the server status is Primamry

So what the heck is going on?

you have 2 different server groups you can move one server to another server group by clicking and dragging.

Both server groups have the same users listed.

Will dragging the Norton Antivirus 1 to Symantec Antivirus 1 will this screw up the users?

If I roll-out the server client to the old server (Norton Antivirus 1) will that fix the problem?

well they cant be getting their updates from both of them..

In the SSC there is a "server" col that shows what server the client is connected to. I find it very odd/weird that they would be listed under both... if they are both just doing NAVCE. One way to move clients from one server to another is by dragging and dropping the clients into the proper server. Once you have all the clients attached to one server (primary) then you could drag and drop the old server from the bad server group to the good server group (I dont think you would have to reinstall).

That is if you plan on keeping both servers up.

The SSC makes it really easy to change things by dragging and dropping. But I'm not sure whats going on if clients are showing up under both servers/server groups and showing both servers under the server col (in the ssc). Take a look.
