Sharepoint Services on a Win2k3 box running AD.
I created 2000 users using CSVDE. The users are all disabled and the passwords are blank due to password complexity in place which is normal from what I've read.
How do users change their passwords? They can login using a blank password but under site settings/update my info, there isn't a place to change the password as suggested by one article I read. These users are coming into Sharepoint from the internet only. They do not login to a local network. Any ideas?

The users will not be able to change their passwords within sharepoint. Only by logging onto a local machine will they be able to.

Something I would try in this case would be to create a form that they enter the password and as the admin you change it in the system.

Thanx. Too bad, it's not what I wanted to hear! I have to manually change 2000 passwords. I'll look into LDIFDE....

standtz, I think you may get round your problem using a web part called 'change my password' which I used previously, though no longer have the need for!. Basically, this is a web part that is 'shareware' though the authors make it freely available to use though the part itself displays a 'demo' mode message though it still works fine. You can get the file off my sharepoint at:
and further details can be found on the authors site at:

Hopefully this is of some use to you.
Cheers
