Yep,

one of my network users in the UK wants to change his password on his laptop - as he is a typical domain user here he logs on using a DOMAIN account - he has no local account - the Domain is in Germany so this week he is out of reach - and is refused accordingly.

Anything we can do?

I dont think so, he could change it via terminal server or citrix or something, but that wouldnt synch up his laptop to the new password.

If he's logged in remotely via DC authentication (VPN for instance) then yes he can change his password, you just have to make sure on the VPN client that it doesn't disconnect his session when he logs off his laptop (yes this IS possible and I have my users do it occasionally). Once he makes the change, he needs to log out and then back in. Also, fix the VPN again so it DOES disconnect once he logs off. Good luck!
