We have 4 guys that rotate on call.

We have it currently setup where the on call goes to a third party. We want it to go directly to the on call tech.

I am having problems with variable or if there is another way that I can do it please let me know.

Thank You

Not an easy screen shot to make out clearly. Variable is easy way to go. Set the variable to a value from 1 to 4, when call transfers use variable routing to pick the destination based on the value of the variable.

What problems are you having? Perhaps a better explanation of the problem would get a better answer.

There are a few ways to do this. Personally I would have 2 different modules, one that sets the variable that you can call in and change, the second module routes based on the value of the variable. That is two different functions so in my mind they would be two different modules.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Does this help.

I want my office staff to pick from a list to who is on call instead of having to setup a call forward to a cell phone number. My office staff would pick 1,2,3,4 to set the On call. Then my customers would hit a number to get afterhours support that would coincide with the number that is set.

OK so the option 2 on the first menu looks right to me. You select 1-4 selectors, and based on what you select, sets the variable for you to test.

I am confused what you are trying to do with 1 on the first menu though. It looks to me like you are overriding the variable you set with selector 2... why? If you set the variable there then whatever you set with selector 2 is now overridden...

Also what are you plans on how you want this routed? How you have this setup you would need to have the person you transfer hit 1 to transfer themselves to the person on call??? That seems like a poor way of doing this.

Like I said I would have 2 modules, one to set the person on call, and one that actually transfers. Then you don't need the transferee to hit 1 for it to work.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Exactly. Your module for setting who is on call is just that - a menu that says press 1 for Adam, 2 for Bob, 3 for Charlie, and 4 for David. Set the value of the variable to 1, 2, 3, or 4 and disconnect (or more elegantly, announce who is on call, request the entry, and announce who is on call again for confirmation)

In your Night Automated Attendant, you have "Press 9 to be connected to the On Call technician", and Touch Tone 9 connect to a variable routing to transfer to the person on call.

Dang TTT beat me to it I was going to draw up how I do it. What he has illustrated should work exactly how you want it to and won't be as clunky as how you are trying to program it now (and it should fix your not working problem as well).

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.
