Hi All,

anyone have a copy of or link to the Mitel TIB that gave a procedure for changing the type of main contoller on a redundant light, ie MC IIE to MC IIIE as I assume/hope this can be done without an interuption to service.

Cheers

I don't believe you can do this without an outage.
I don't know of a document that describes it but this is what I would do.
Back up the system.
Turn on activity freeze.
Partition the system (active first then inactive)
Power off the inactive plane and replace MCC power back on inactive plane.
May or may not need to change the card type in system. config but check and see what is says change if needed.
If assigning IP addres to MCIIIe change and reset plane again to activate.
Once up and running you will need to force an activity switch which is where you will lose service to the phones.
make sure newly active plane is still partitioned.
Power off newly inactive plane and replace MCC (Change IP if needed)as above
Join the system (Inactive first then active)

Anyone do this differently?

Craig

You've got the wrong numbers. I suspect you want to get to the IIIe Maain Controller from something a lot less advanced. What is the part number of the existing Main COntroller, software release etc. This is a much bigger job than just swapping cards.

NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!

caknfd: Nope what you propose will work Probably the safest way using the partition.

There may be no i in team but there are three f's in fudge off.
