Hi All,

Has anyone got any advice or procedure for changing Cluster Element ID/PBX numbers within a clustered environment managed by OPS MAN. It is not the cluster id Digits but the PBX numbers that I need to change ? 3 x 3300s running release 8 and all linked together with IP networking.

Caution:

These numbers need to match, you cannot change 1 without the other.

Please eloborate.

The numbers match and I know to keep them that way for resiliency to work but have another couple of clustered 3300s that I wan't to IP trunk to and as they are both separate clusters at present both are using PBX/Cluster Element ID 1 upwards so I need to alter one cluster. Both managed by separate ops mans.

Do you really need to merge the clusters.

Have you considered using the PNI instead?

I don't want to merge the clusters, I just want to IP trunk between the two, but cant see anyway round other than changing the PBX numbers.

If you introduce the PNI then the Clusters can still be separate (conflicting numbers allowed) and still be networked together.

To be honest, I have never used the PNI myself but I understand the concept. Each system within a cluster is given a unique PNI number. Calls within each cluster operate as they normally do. Calls between clusters require the PNI to be dialed before the DN to direct the call to the remote cluster.

I just re-read my post above and I think I need to be clearer.

Each Cluster requires a PNI and each system within the cluster is assigned the PNI for its cluster. The post above reads like each system needs it's own PNI and that is not the case.
