I have to change the number of mailbox digits from 4 to 5 digits, is there an easy way to change all the subscribers on the modular messaging system from 4 to 5 digits ? tool ?

I can't think of an easy way to do it. Even with Mailbox Manager you still need to change the length in the MSS and then use the Change Key command in Mailbox Manager, which I think can only be done one at a time.

Is this all done through mailbox manager? Just change key command or something on the MSS in addition to change key?

Thanks,

Jim

I haven't done this yet with Mailbox Manager, but I would think that you would first need to change the mailbox length on the MSS and then do another Get Configuration on the Mailbox Manager so that the "Ranges" change and then do a Change Key for each subscriber. That's just a guess. I would need to set it up on my test system to really verify that. I'm curious to find out.

If you find out, let me know. At some point this year we will be going from 3 digit to 4 digit extensions. It would be nice if the process was documented somewhere in the manuals.

Hey ChuckRCT, have you been able to test changing mailbox lengths? My company is moving closer to making a change in the dialing plan and need verify this or if we need to blow all the mailboxes out and start again.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

TechJimF,

I haven't done extensive testing with changing the mailbox lengths yet. I have changed the mailbox length (from 3 digits to 4 digits) with my test system and then added new mailboxes with the new mailbox length without any problems, but I haven't tried changing an old 3 digit mailbox to the new 4 digit mailbox length.
