Change NAV parent server from Novell to Windows 2000

Hi

Presently all the NAV clients (7.51) are connected to our NAV server (ver 7.6) which is a Novell 4.11 box. I have to change the parent server on all these clients from this Novell box to a new Windows 2000 server. Symantec site tell me how to change a parent server from one windows Server to another for all the clients (by making some registry changes).

Can someone tell me how do I achieve the above. Thanks in advance.

Never had to do this. But, since you're moving from one OS to another, the sad truth is you'll probably have to re-install, without migration options.

you have to go to the Symantec web site (

http://www.symantec.com/support

and they have all the details about the changes to make for you in sequential steps....shouldn't be difficult for IT geeks like all of us.

I remembered about a GRC.dat file generated by the NAV Server running in Windows NT/2K which contains all the configuration file including the parent server. All I did was to copy these to the NAV directory on the client stations, and viola, all these got updated soon from the new NAV server. I hope it would help.
