I installed NT Server with a serial mouse attached. My cat ate the mouse so I replaced it but with a PS/2 mouse. I changed the driver to standard ps2 and also tried microsfot ps2 but it still won't work. I get no mouse showing. When I go to change the driver I always see Microsoft Serial Mouse as the compatible device. I never had trouble in win 9x swapping mouses. Am I doing something wrong or is the new mouse bad? I can't test it on my win9x platform cause its a laptop and only accepts serial mouses
Thanks
John Durbin

You would need to change the driver and remove the serial mouse service. Doubt it is your mouse.

Remember Win9x is plug and pray, NT is install it or else...

I change it and that doesnt work. Where do I remove it?
Thanks
John Durbin

JDurbin,

Have you ever used a PS2 mouse on that system before? If not, make sure the PS2 Mouse port is enabled in the BIOS.

P.S.- By the way, do you really expect us to believe that your "cat" ate your "mouse"?

LOL. No. Just a favorite computer war story of mine. BTW, I still remember having to walk uphill both ways to navigate in a screen before this current lazy mouse generation. (That was supposed to be another joke)
I installed NT with a serial mouse attached. I am running on *gulp* a Packard Hell 133mhz. I looked for the PS/2 BIOS setting and found none. Maybe I should see if PB has an updated BIOS available. Maybe the port isnt setup in NT?
Thanks for helping
John Durbin

Yes there was a BIOS setting for the mouse. I missed it. Stupid old Packard Hell

Thanks
JOhn Durbin
