Hi

I need to increase the value of max users on Solaris 8
how would i go about rebuilding the kernel after i have edited /etc/system file with new parametre.

So to recap :
a. i need to build a new kernel
b. compile the kernel
c. move in to place
d. I guess i will need to shutdown and reboot server as in Hpux.

Thanks

I don't think changing the kernel in Solaris is as complicated as it can be in HPUX when you rebuild the kernel "manually."

I may have been doing it wrong on Solaris all along, but I just edit the /etc/system file (see Solaris Tunable Parameters Reference Manual on docs.sun.com for the parms you can edit) and reboot the system.

After editing the /etc/system file, all that is needed is a reboot.

Thanks for the help.

But does that mean the kernel does not need to be compiled as hp does.
