We have an internal site with a newsboard for postings, users are now entering funny names for posted by,we have changed settings under internat options security settings custom level to Automatic logon with currant username and password, this allows us to see the loged in user name. The only problem is that this setting needs to be changed for each user that logs on to the Pc it does not keep the settings even if we change it under Administrator rights.Anyone have any ideas ?

If it's an ASP web application, why not just log the username in brackets beside any screen name they choose (very easy to do this in an MS environment)? The culprits will be found and shamed very quickly that way.

Cheers,
Jeff

Thanks BabyJeffy we have set this up so only the site manager and IT can see their user login name, but if the users log in to another Pc the settings are lost,is there a reg edit we could do to set this for all users ?

Perhaps you can disable anonymous access on your web server and use windows integrated security instead... That will force the browser to send a value of LOGON_USER along with the HTTP request.... assuming your users are logged into an NT Domain (Active Directory.)
