Can someone point me in the direction of a change log for MCD versions? I currently have 7.2 (13.2.0.17) on our PBX, and wish to know what the changes are at the latest version, which is, from my googling, 8.something...or is there a later release? I have googled and googled, and can't seem to find anything...

Thanks,

Quintin

Do you have access to Mitel Online? You should be able to find information in the Release Notes.

Login to Mitel Online as Sarond has recommended and download the latest help files called "System Administration Tool" for the MiVB. Open the file sysadminhelpmain.htm. There is a page called "What's New In This Release." Here it shows a comprehensive list of updates from many previous versions.

Thanks. I am an end user, so not sure if I have access to Mitel Online, but I will check it out.

Thanks again!

This is from the account request page...I think this is only for resellers and Mitel staff...end users (regardless of how well they know Mitel's equipment) don't qualify :(

What's New in This Release

MiVoice Business Release 8.0 SP3
New Features and Capabilities

Support extended for SDS data sharing with up to three MiCollab 8.1 servers. For the required configuration on MiCollab, refer to the MiCollab Administrator Online Help.

Added support to override the From header with the Default CPN on outbound SIP calls using the new COS option Override From Header with Default CPN in the SIP Peer Profile form.

The total RAM size of MOH files in x86 platform increased from 16 MB to 128 MB. For more information, see the MiVoice Business Engineering Guidelines document.

The MiVoice Business Software Installer tool

The 3300 FTP Server option is no longer supported to transfer software files when performing a full installation. You can transfer the software files using the External FTP Server option (default) only.

MiVoice Business Release 8.0 SP2
New Features and Capabilities

The Multilingual Name Display feature is extended to support call display for external numbers, Speed Calls, groups, and other numbers that do not exist in the User and Services Configuration form through an external LDAP Server. See Multilingual Name Display Using External LDAP.

The Night Bell feature is now supported on all devices. See System Access Points and Trunk Answer From Any Station (TAFAS).

The administrator can program Make Busy FAC with speed call functionality using Make Busy walk away codes to allow users to create personal speed calls. The walkaway codes between the range 0-11 are supported. See ACD Make Busy Reason Codes.

Support added for the new Mitel S720 BT Speakerphone. The Mitel S720 BT Speakerphone is supported with Mitel 6930 and 6940 IP Phones. See the 6930 and 6940 IP Phone User Guides, and the Mitel S720 BT Speakerphone Quick Reference Guide and User Guide on the Mitel eDocs website for more information.

Support added for XML applications on the 69xx series IP phones that allows integration with Mitel applications, such as MiCollab Meeting Center (refer to Appendix A MiCollab Meeting Center Configuration in the MiCollab Client Administrator Guide, Release 8.0 on Mitel eDocs) and Mitel Mass Notification (refer to the Mitel Mass Notification Installation, Administration, and Maintenance Guide, on Mitel InfoChannel). The XML configuration files can be uploaded using the Phone Applications Update form or downloaded from an external server specified by the Application Info field in the Online Service URLs form.

MiVoice Business Release 8.0 SP1
New Features and Capabilities

Two new COS options added: Integrated DECT Wideband Audio and Integrated DECT High Power that enables or disables wideband audio and high power mode on 69xx DECT headsets.

The No Answer Recall Timer COS can now be set to disable the Recall feature can now be disabled. When disabled, no recall occurs when the call is not answered.

Support for Microsoft Exchange 2016 added to Embedded Unified Messaging.

The embedded voice mail Multi-Level Auto Attendant (MLAA) supports the following features:

Dial by Name

Language Toggle

Dial by Extension

MLAA allows recording voice mails from the Menu node.

Float Key support added to the 69xx IP Phones

Hot desk users can be logged out automatically by setting Hot Desk Auto Logout Timer (range 0 to 168 seconds). If set, hot desk users are automatically logged out when the Hot Desk Auto Logout Timer expires.

Pressing the Superkey followed by a programmable key will now display the configured DID Service number along with line appearance number and line appearance name. For more information, see Superkey.

A new option "Make Busy" is added to the ACD Agent Behavior on No Answer COS, which when selected, re-queues calls when agents do not answer and sets agents' presence as idle.

NameTag Hunt Group is now resilient.

When calls to a ring group are rerouted, the reroute destination for a call type (DID, ITE, CO, and Int) under either Busy/DND or No Answer, depends on the setting "This" or "That" in the Call Rerouting First Alternatives form. That is, a call type under either "Busy/DND" or "No Answer" set to either "This" or "That", is rerouted to the configured "This" or "That" destination accordingly. A call type set differently ("This" and "That") under "Busy/DND" and "No Answer", is first rerouted to the configured "This" destination. See Ring Groups.

Two Controller Registry settings—Set Firmware Upgrade – Delay Software Upgrade (Yes/No) and Simultaneous Set Firmware Upgrades Allowed—are added to handle firmware upgrades for 53xx and 69xx IP Phones. One setting controls whether 53xx and 69xx IP Phones with old firmware are required to upgrade before registering. The other setting throttles the upgrades by limiting how many can be upgraded at the same time. Upgrades can also be disabled obliging the administrator to initiate them via the new LOAD FIRMWARE maintenance command.

Another new command (RENEWFWTABLES) refreshes the system file that tells sets newer firmware is available. Formerly, the file only refreshed after a system reboot meaning it became stale if new firmware had been uploaded before then.

The LOCATE FEATURE command is also augmented to show whether a specified set requires an upgrade and whether the upgrade has been requested.

A new softkey called Silence Call is supported on 69xx series phones, which when pressed, mutes the ringer. See Ringer Control.

Prime Line labels and banners on 53xx and 69xx sets that are members of a Multi-device User Group or Hotel/Motel Suite display the dialable directory number of the group (i.e., the group pilot number).

Visual Voice Mail (NuPoint and Embedded Voice Mail) now supported on the 69xx IP Phones.

Unread voice mail message count added to the status indicator bar on 69xx IP Phones.

Support added for the Mitel 5613 and 5614 IP-DECT Wireless handsets

MiVoice Business Release 8
New Hardware

The 6920 IP, 6930 IP, and 6940 IP Phones are the newest additions to the Mitel family of multi-line desktop IP phones. Each features a high quality full duplex handsfree speakerphone and a high resolution color display. Ten fixed-function keys are also provided for one-touch access to commonly used telephony features. The 6920 adds 18 programmable personal keys while the 6930 and 6940 add 72 and 96 keys respectively.

The 6920 has both a USB Port and a dedicated analog headset port with electronic hook switch for use with wired headsets. The other two models are also equipped with a Bluetooth wireless interface that supports a number of Mobile Integration features that are enabled through connection to a mobile phone.

Other changes introduced in conjunction with the new phones:

Personal ring tones (6900 series phones only).

The 6940 and 6930 IP Phone support MobileLink, a feature that provides seamless mobile integration using Bluetooth wireless technology. With MobileLink users can sync the mobile phone’s contact list with the 6940/6930; answer a mobile phone call using the 6940/6930 and move active calls between the two devices. See the 6940 and 6930 IP Phone User Guide on the Mitel eDocs website for more information.

Headset mode behaviors are improved.Pressing the key when a headset is plugged in and a call is ringing answers the call. If the phone is idle, dial tone is returned. Pressing the key again toggles audio to the speaker. At any time, you can lift the handset and audio will follow.

The Redial fixed-function key on the 69xx phones provides a list of numbers to call when pressed.

Rather than only colors and flash rates, displays on the 69xx phones use shapes, icons, and colors to make it easier to distinguish call and feature states.

A new key programming method, Long Key Press, presents a short list of popular features 69xx users can assign to their keys. Other features must be assigned using the System Admin Tool or Desktop Tool..

Call Duration Display on 6900 series phones is augmented to include internal calls in addition to external calls available on legacy phones.

New form, Phone Applications Update, uploads Screen Saver and Branding applications to MiVoice Business for distribution to supporting devices, including 6900 series phones. (NOTE: 6900 series phones do not support HTML applications.)

Handoff is augmented by softkeys labeled Push Call or Pull Call depending on busy/idle state of member phone. Applies to 6900 series phones only. Legacy sets retain the Handoff key which now becomes lit when a Push or Pull is allowed.

Call History changes (6900 series phones only):

dedicated fixed-function key provided in lieu of softkey

addition of missed call count (draws attention to repeated missed calls from the same caller)

Phone Administrator Passcode added to System Security Management form. Used to access certain functions on the 69xx phones. The phone prompts for the passcode when the Setting key followed by Advanced sofkey are pressed. For more information, see the 6900 Series Admininstrator's Guide on the Mitel eDocs web site.

New users can be sent a welcome email from the User and Services Configuration form. Information conveyed in the email includes, user name and password; phone details (model, DN, PIN, etc.); and voicemail details (mailbox number and passcode).

6900 series phones provide a native directory (Contacts) application for performing user lookups on an external OpenLDAP directory server. Support for the legacy Phonebook is retained through the addition of an embedded LDAP server accessible over MiNET. This allows 6900 series phones to access the MiVoice Business internal directory (Teldir).

Softkeys for toggling Background Music and Music on Hold on and off are not available on 6900 series phone. Users wanting this feature can program it to a feature key.

6900 series phones cannot be programmed as traditional ACD Sets

Desktop Tool changes

The common features list is revised to contain User Speedcall, User SpeedCall – Private, Account Code Verified, Call Fwd Always, Do Not Disturb. Phone Lock. Clicking the new button ‘All Features’ will switch the list to display all the features available for programming.

For 69xx IP Phones only, PKM keys can now be programmed using the Desktop Tool.

New Features and Capabilities

The SIP Peer Profile form now supports the following special characters; !$%ab&'()*+-_./;=?~, in the Basic > Local Account Information > Registration User Name field. See Basic - Local Account Information for details.

Call Display for Pickup Groups introduces a new Class of Service option: Call Pickup Display. If enabled, the option provides members of a Pickup group with a preview of the calling/called party associated with the call they intend to pickup. The following MiNET devices support this feature: 5304, 5312, 5324, 5320/5320e, 5330/5330e, 5340/5340e, and 5360. See Call Pickup - Dialed for details.

Programming of Call Rerouting treatments for users added to the User and Services Configuration form.

Call Screening (Boss-Secretary Enhancements) feature allows devices configured as Secretaries to receive (ring) and route back Boss's incoming calls, while the Boss device is in Do Not Disturb (DND) state. The routed calls override the DND and ring the Boss's prime line.

The feature provides a simple way to turn the screening on or off, using the appropriate programmable keys: DND on Boss, DSS/BLF (with or without the Superkey) on Secretary.

Device Types for Mitel SIP DECT Phones (models 612, 622, 632, and 650) added to the Multiline IP Sets and User and Services Configuration forms. See Programming Mitel SIP-DECT Phones for details.

The Telephone Directory field, Include In Phonebook, allows you to create, schedule and export a dialable Phonebook Directory for MiVoice Business Console. Also, only entries with Include In Phonebook set to 'Yes' are used for TelDir lookups for any Superkey and 5550/5540 IP Console Phonebook applications.

NOTE: By default, the following entries are set to 'No': primary and secondary devices with service level 'IP Device Only' or 'Multi-device', when not a member or not a prime member of a Multi-device User Group.

To ensure accuracy and consistency of the Telephone Directory across the network, perform an SDS Synchronization of the form for each node upgraded to MiVoice Business Release 8.0 or restored from a previous release. If necessary, manually fix any entries with the incorrect "Include In Phonebook' setting.

Class of Service option 'Display DNIS on Key Label' controls whether float key labels display DNIS or calling line ID.

Class of Service option Enbloc Dialing Enabled allows you to complete dialing and send a trunk call without a delay by: pressing the new 'Call' softkey (displayed on applicable sets after you start dialing), or by going off hook after completing an on-hook dialing.

The option applies to 53xx series phones; however, the 'Call' softkey is not available on the 5304 and 5312 sets. The 'Call' softkey is also not available for personal speed calls.

ARS Route Lists can include up to 20 (an increase from a maximum of 6) routes. To accommodate the increase, the form's design for smaller clusters (30 or 60 Maximum Elements per Cluster) changes to match the form's design for large systems (250 or 999 Maximum Elements per Cluster). Specifically,

Change Page, Change All, Page, and Go to... buttons are removed.

Range programing, Search by list number, and Previous (<< <) / Next (> >>) options are provided.

With Class of Service option 'Follow Reroute on Disabled Forwarding' enabled, calls manually forwarded using the Forward softkey will follow call rerouting treatments when call forwarding at the intended destination is disabled.

Help Improvements

Task Programming Guide provides quick access to the hundreds of programming and system administration procedures available in the main Help.

Forms in the System Administration Tool can now be opened from the Help and the new Task Programming Guide.

Better information on alarms is available via links in the Alarm Details form (example).

Class of Service option 'Long Key Press Timer' specifies the length of time you need to press a Programmable Key (PK) to launch a Key Inquiry Session or to activate or deactivate Call Screening from a Secretary device. Long PK pressing eliminates the need to press the Superkey beforehand. This functionality applies to 53xx and 69xx series IP phones only.

Class of Service option 'Prefer Call Forwarding/Rerouting Information' controls whether ACD agent telephones display the distributing ACD Path information or the forwarding information for calls that were forwarded or rerouted to the ACD path.

Class of Service option, Prefer Name for Call Information, can display the name instead of number for forwarded calls which helps users to answer more appropriately by showing them who the caller was trying to reach. Also applies to Redial and other features depending on the device type.

Scheduled Call Management feature allows you to create up to 100 weekly Business Schedules, which you can then assign to individual directory numbers (DN) listed in the Call Rerouting form. The system uses the time of day and the assigned business schedule (not the system's Day/Night Service schedule) to determine which of the three possible Call Rerouting Always Alternatives should be applied to the particular destination DN. If you do not assign a business schedule to a DN, then the Reroute Always alternate follows the system's Day/Night Service schedule.

Generic SIP Phones can be configured as a Single Line Phone: a full service device without any programmable keys that consumes a Single Line Users, instead of an IP Users, license. A Single Line Phone has only one line appearance, cannot be a hot desk device or a member of a Multi-device User Group (MdUG), and it is not supported on 5505 SIP devices.

NOTE: This feature renames the Analog Lines license to the Single Line Users license.

Multilingual Name Display support is extended to the Superkey Phonebook application. In addition, Phonebook matches are displayed as follows: full names are displayed on the first or second line (depending on the set) whenever possible. If there is not enough space, names are truncated according to the existing rules.

Work Group/Branch Office Music on Hold bases the music source presented to a call on the call holder's location or group membership.

Programming of Float keys is extended to System Administration Tool (previously only supported on phone). Entails exposing the Prime Line in the User and Services Configuration form. Float Keys can be provisioned using templates and are supported on 5340, 5340e, 5360, and 5560 phones and for Single, Key, and Multicall line types only.

ACD feature keys are available for programming to the 6900 and 5300 series phones (excluding the 5304, 5312, and 5324) phones and allow users to set/clear Make Busy, set Silent Monitors and Request/Cancel Help.

Record-a-Call feature key is augmented to support Pause/Resume when pressed in at the appropriate time.

The prime key label is now configurable in the User and Services Configuration form.

Security logs and Audit Trail logs generated by MiVoice Business are now integrated into the LINUX Syslog framework. For more details, see Appendix H in the Technician's Handbook.

MiVoice Business now uses self-signed security certificates which customers can replace with their own using the Web Server Certificate form.

MiVoice Business Release 7.2 SP1

Embedded Voice Mail Improvements:

Multi-level Auto Attendant Menu Node mailboxes support a separate Business Open/Business Closed greeting, played based on the system's day/night mode or the VM Business Hours Settings. Both greeting types can be recorded using the Telephone User Interface (TUI) or uploaded using the System Audio Files Update form. Menu Node mailbox greetings cannot be recorded from the administrator's mailbox.

Pre-recoreded mailbox names can be uploaded using the System Audio Files Update form.

Mailbox passcode length can be configured via System Administration Tool (VM Options form); maximum length increased to 8 digits.

User and Services Configuration form improvements:

The Search by Number results also include the Device Type and Service Level - for locally-hosted numbers only.

The system verifies the availability of the DN entered in the Number field under the Service Profile tab. If not available, a search for the next available number is performed and, if found, the new number is placed in the field.

The LOCATE FEATURE EXTENSION maintenance command can be called and the results displayed in the Summary section of the form (onl
