hi we are running a betrieve database that has a polling system capturing staff clock-ins
at the moment it is picking data from the demo system
i need to know how to change the loaction from demo to live.
would it be a amendment of a file or configuring the software that runs the dct's

Are you accessing the data via a dsn? If so you can configure the dsn to suit your requirements.

hi dsn? can u expand on that alittle more please it is not really an area i am familer with but i enjoy being educated about all kinds of technology

Well, I might be a bit off the mark here - but the situation that I'm in is that we have a legacy accounting system that uses a Pervasive database (*.btr) - the application can do everything we want - but - it's hard work for the users to work with it - to make things easier we developed a front end in VB.

To be able to access the pervasive data in VB what we use ODBC. To achieve this what we did was that we created a DDF for each file. We also created a dsn using the ODBC icon in the control panel. This dsn allows us to specify where the data is located and where the ddf is located - this allows us to run several data sets from the one ddf - we have one dsn per data set.

Apologies if this is not quite what you were looking for but best of luck with finding a solution.
