Hello,

I want to change the IP-addresses of a local NT4 network to a totaly different subnet.
No DHCP.
Are there specific things I have to take care for?

Thanks,
Pollux

Pollux,

Kindly clarify. You can change the subnet of your network without changing the IP addresses, provided the IP address range falls within what is defined on your subnet mask.

That depends on the subnet you are wishing to use.

As a rule, network ID and subnet masks are generally paired--to a degree. Class A IDs have 255.0.0.0 subnet masks, class B have 255.255.0.0 subnet masks, and class C have 255.255.255.0 subnet masks. If you stay within a class boundary and do not wish to subnet within the octet boundaries, you should be fine. All you need to make sure of is having all your IP properties assigned correctly under associated NIC.

Hope this helps.
