Hi,

I have a G3r V9.5 with a CLAN card. I need to change the IP address of the card but I'm unsure of which options to change. On first viewing it would seem that all I need to do is change node-name ip and then change the switch ip address and the gateway ip address. Is this correct or are there other changes I need to make?

Ta,
Chris

Thats correct but..................

The're a few other steps you have to follow but I'm not sure in wich order. The problem is that they all need to be done before tou can change the IP-adres. So if the C-lan is used for connection with CMS, Intuity Audix or both, do this:

"Change IP-services" and remove all the entries. This is used for DSA via IP.(first disable it and then remove it)

"Change com pro" and remove all the entries. (first disable it, and then remove it)

Remove ethernet datamodule. (perhaps do another step first but the system will tell you)

Change ip-interfaces. Remove the entries. (I'm not sure if you have to disable it first)

Then you can "change IP node-names"

Make sure you write down all the setting to get everything back online again.

Before you begin also do a "status link x" and also write down what you see. This will make it more easy to get everything up and running again after the changes.

Plan your work............Work your plan

You don't have to go through all of that just to change the IP...

All you have to do is do "change ip-interfaces" disable the clan board you want to change the IP on...

enter that in

then go back into there if you have to make changes on the subnet and gateway, etc....

enter than in

then go to the "change node-names ip"
change it, enter it

go back to "change ip-interfaces" and enable the clan board again...

Thats all. You might need to change a few more things if you have other integrations or doing voicemail integration via CLAN

but for the basics, thats all you have to do, no need to remove the data mode, or IP-services, etc.....

I do it like buckweet, just "park" the ip-interface, make the changes required, then unpark. Speak softly and carry a big switch

Thanks for the help, but i have an addon to my question.

If i change the CLAN Address will this not impact on the data link to the CMS server? If so what would i need to change on that?

I know i can change the/etc/hosts file to get the switch name to match the new switch/CLAN ip address, is this all that needs to be done?

Thanks again,
Chris

as long as the CMS IP isn't changing, I wouldn't think you'd have to change anything else in the definity

but on the CMS side, i'm not familiar with that, I would think the etc/hosts file would be it, if thats what the CMS looks to for resolution..
