Hello,

Recently I made a change to all of our Windows 2000 users. When we originally setup the network (I know this is not a good way to go about it) we made everyone either an administrator or a domain administrator to stop any problems with permissions from occurring. Two days ago I set up a security group called Billers in which I put most of our users into it. The Billers security group only had "Users" permissions applied to it. Here's the problem, 18 of the users did not have any problems with this change. 2 of the users ran into a problem with Citrix where they could not connect to our Citrix clients either from within the Citrix Program Neighborhood or from the published app icon that we have on their desktops. One of the two users could connect to some clients, but not to others. The same user would get a message "A Seamless Connection Already Exists" when they double-clicked the published app icon on their desktop. The other user that had the problem could not connect to anyone either from within the Citrix Program Neighborhood or from the published app. To solve this problem I made these two users Domain Admins and all the problems went away. Can someone tell me where I have to set the permissions in order for these errors from happening. Is there something else I may have missed? To me it has to be a permissions problem being that when they were made Domain Administrators again, the problem went away. But the weird thing in this problem is that the other 18 users that are in the same group and have the same permissions did not have any problems connecting to any of the Citrix clients whatsoever. HELP! :( Eddie Martin

How do you delete the Citrix profile? Are you referring to the Appsrv.ini file under C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\ICACLIENT

This does, of course, depend on whether you are using roaming profiles or not, but if you right-click My Computer at the server's console and select properties, you will see a User Profiles tab. The profiles listed here are the local copies - if you are not using roaming profiles, they will be the _only_ copies.

It's probably worth trying for one of the users that is having issues - but make sure they have not got into the awful habit of saving data into their profiles, or they will lose work.

If you're not using roaming profiles, then maybe it's time to have a go at sorting out the Default User profile. CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

One of the connections that the 2 users are having a problem connecting to is a published app, so we don't get a desktop, and I will not be able to right-click my computer, but I will try and do that on the other connections that the user is having problems connecting to. Eddie Martin

Don't try to edit the user's profiles from within sessions - you won't be able to! Do it at the console.

On a Windows 2000 server, profiles are locally cached in %systemroot%\Documents and Settings\[username]. If the users are logged in, or files are still held open by a session, you won't be able to delete them.

If it's only 2 users out of a whole group of users, I'd suspect group membership above all else. however. CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk
