Our I.T. Dept. is changing all I.P. addressing & we need to know how to change the I.P. & subnet addressing on our CentreVu Supervisor. We are currently running version 8.0.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I thought you could only change the IP address through CMS.

The IP address of the CMS is stroed in the /etc/hosts file. Edit the file to change the IP address. Other files that need to be checked when changing IP address are the /etc/netmasks and the /etc/defaultrouter files. Can anybody add to this for ncphoneman?

If its just the Supervisor that you wish to change then start up the CentreVu Supervisor but dont login.

Under the tools menu choose the Options tab. Then select the Communications tab, you will see where you put the IP address of the CMS server.

Thanks to GloriaE and saspurs for the info.

We will need to change the addressing of both our supervisor machine as well as the CMS itself.

GloriaE, could you provide step-by-step directions for these changes, or would you recommend we get "Professional Services" to do it?

Log in as root or cms500 in your sun system. Edit the file /etc/hosts to change the IP address. this is where the ip address is stored. once the IP address is changed, it should change it in supervisor as well. It gets pretty scary if you have never worked with UNIX commands, I would call avaya, they can walk you step by step or dial in and change it for you. If you have a maint contract with them, this will be a breeze.

GloriaE --

Thanks again for the help. We do have a Maint. contract, but didn't know if they would refer us to Professional Services for many monies. Is there a direct number to the CMS support desk, or do I just call the standard repair # of 800-242-2121?

Maybe this time you should you use the DNS name of the CMS Server on the workstations instead of the IP address. This will prevent you from having to ever visit the workstations again in the event of another address change. It would just be one change on the DNS server to enable the workstations to see the CMS at it's new address.

Just call the help line 800-242-2121 and just say IP Adress change in CMS (voice activated). you will be asked for your IL# or your Sell to #, if you do not have the numbers then give them your address or phone number. if you have a maint. contract they will help you for the first 15 min at no charge. if it takes longer then 15 min then gather the information that you have been given and call back in for another 15 min. good luck
