Lets say I have rows that show numbers 1-10. So in A1 it would be 1, cell A2 would be 2, Cell A3 would be 3 etc..etc. What I would like to do is be able to click on one of the cells and have it take you to a URL. So for example if I clicked on cell A1 it would take me to if i clicked on cell A2 it would take me to and so on. Is this possible?

I have thousands of rows so I need to be able to do this automaticall and not just manually type in each URL for each cell. Any help or suggestions are much appreciated.

Thank you!

Paul

hi,

Check out the =HYPERLINK() function.

Let's say that C1 contained
Then your formula in A1 could be...
[tt]
A1: =HYPERLINK($C$1&ROW())
[/tt]
...and copy down

I think I may have figured this out using concatenate, it is not pretty but I think it will get the job done.

Skip, in:
=HYPERLINK($C$1&ROW())

Why add the ROW() piece?

What does that add?

@Steve,
if I clicked on cell A1 it would take me to 1, if i clicked on cell A2 it would take me to 2 and so on.

OK, interesting. So it's a method to make use of Excel's RowNumber without needing to type anything extra. Gotcha.

@Steve, It’s not the way I’d design the sheet, but that’s what the OP wanted. I’d have a column of consecutive numbers, which is probably what you were thinking. I’d give the C1 range a range name also.
