Hey guys - so we used to have 5 site IP Office SCN in which we we have been collapsing down to a single IP500V2. We have been previously using Voicemail Pro on one IP500V2 with all the others using Centralized voicemail pointing to that system. However, now we are collapsing everything down & have migrated all users to a single IP500V2 (one of the ones on centralized vm). We now need to change that IP500V2 to Voicemail Pro, since we will be shutting down all the other systems in the SCN. My question is, when we change this system to Voicemail Pro, and turn off the old system that was set to Voicemail pro; will all our users, voicemails, etc all still be on the VM Pro database? The users are already built in VMPRO, so would it have any impact essentially changing which IP500 in the SCN is the system utilizing voicemail pro?

All the users in voicemail pro are pulled from the IPO. As long as you have the users in the IPO they should populate in VMPro. Since the SCN is being removed anything not in the main IPO should not show up anymore.

As for the voicemail/greetings/names etc you would need to copy those from the old VMPro server to the new one.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Licensing - by virtue of being on the SCN, the sites that were using centralized voicemail were getting a virtual Preferred license from the site hosting the VM. You need to transfer that Preferred license to the control unit. Also, take a backup of the Accounts / Greetings / Names folders before you shut down the VM server at the central location and restart it on the single site.

So we have already had all licensing combined and migrated over to the single IPO/ so we have all preferred addition licensing needed on the IP500 that will be changed from Centralized to Voicemail Pro. Also, we will be using the exact same voicemail pro server- just instead of IP500 site A pointed to that VMPRO server; now IP500 site B will be pointed to that VMPRO server. We will keep a backup of the Accounts/Greetings/Names.

Since it is actually the same machine, just pointing at a different IPO, I believe you should be fine it should have all the voicemails and greetings and whatnot. All the voicemail files are based on extension name so as long as they are the same they should carry over.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

Excellent. My thoughts as well, but wanted to see if there was something I was missing.

Thanks all
