I have a linked table from SQL Server in Ms Access. One of the field is showing up as a memo data type. I am tryin gto creat a pivot table form and for some reason I cannot pick up the field which is a memo data type in the table. When I go ahead and try to change it, it does not allow me to do so since it is a linked table. Any suggestions on how to change the data type of a field in a linked table.

You can't create a pivottable on the field as memo can hold huge amounts of text.

Try tidying it a bit, and pivit on the result:

Left([memofield],50) will give the first 50 characters - any more than this I would suggest is not that useful for a pivot table!
