change domain names?

how can i change the domain name on my server? i only have 2 computers (besides the server) running on it, and i named my domain incubuslive.net. i also have a purchased domain named incubuslive.net that i frequently update and cannot access due to the conflict. my purchased domain is not hosted on my server. any help would be appreciated!

M$ has a download of a Domain-name changer. I have never used it, but otherwise you will need to run DCPROMO to demote your server and then repromote it...

dcpromo was what i was trying to avoid so i don't lose my whole Active Directory structure. there isn't mush there, but i would rather not lose it. is there a way to back Active Dirrectory up?

Run the Backup utility and choose the System State. This is the only way, as far as I know, to back up AD... Thanks,

1.Check the link above to backup Active Directory.

2.Then run dcpromo to uninstall active directory. You will lose what you have but you backed it up.

3.Rename your server.

4.Check the link above to restore Active Directory.
