Change DN or PORT

I have customer that i am going to be moving from R1T1 to BMC 3.7 they have used set reloaction over the past how many years and now all the port numbers are different from the DN numbers. Of course the customer wants all the EXT to stay the same, which leads to my question.

Can I/ Should I change the port on the DN, or the DN on the port?

We use Bix here and what I would do is remove the old tie downs with the jumper intact and let it hang. Mount the BCM and tie it down on the rack in the same place and already programed up. And then have a list of what port the DN is on in the old system and move that jumper to the BCM port with the same DN on it. The new system will be straight. Leave the old system working until you finish.

In answer to your original question.
When you do a DN change, it changes the DN on the port.
