Howdy,

If the system V lpadmin command isn't available, what AIX command can change the default printer?

rcbatlinux

How do I set the default queue?
The default queue for the system is the first queue in /etc/qconfig.
At AIX 4 use the following smit commands:
smitty spooler
Choose: Manage queues
Choose: Set the default queue and enter queue name
At AIX 3 use vi and move the queue and queue device stanzas in /etc/qconfig.
To change an individual user's default queue use "export LPDEST=<queue>" in the user's .profile.

I believe it is still the first printer listed in /etc/qconfig is the default printer...but
check the the above

Correct aixqueen the first printer in the etc/qconfig is the default printer. Learn something everyday or you wasted a day of your life.
