Change Default Gateway using AD 1

I'm running a mixture of W2K / XP machines on an Active Directory governed by Windows Server 2003 (all machines fully patched up). All group policies are dictated by AD and work satisfactorily.

However, I've recently introduced a new Gateway (which has a different IP address). Rather than visit each and every machine, I want to use AD to change the Default Gateway on them. I'm sure that it can be done, but I've not been able to work out how. Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks

DHCP is the best way. In fact, ahead of adding the gateway, you could have reduced the lease time to a couple of hours. Then, making the change to the scope for the new gateway would have a quicker effect.

Oops! Should have mentioned; we use static IP addressing for 95% of our machines (I've already handled the DHCP ones).

Any ideas how to change the default gateway on machines with static IP addresses?

Thanks

I think I've seen what you require in the VBScript forum somewhere.

Of course, once things had slowed down and I was able to think about it, the answer was obvious; swap the IP addresses of the two Gateways!

I'm going to carry out this procedure this evening and I see no reason why it shouldn't work the way I want.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

That should work fine - but do you seriously need 95% of your network using static IP's?!

If not then you could script it, but then you have to play with permissions and multiple platforms etc...!

I have to agree. 95% of the machines as static sure makes for a bunch more administration.
