change data type

i have a table which there has the the field type integer and data like 37468
i want to change this value to data type
How can i change this value?
 
what data type do you want it to be ?

Assuming you want to change it to a datatype that is not an integer, look up Cast and Convert in Books Online or any T-SQL programming book. Those are both useful tools in changing datatypes.

I think Convert only works with like datatypes, though. And Cast has to be used when transforming unlike datatypes.
