Hello all! I need to customize the COS settings for 3 stations at a remote site. I see where you change the COS on each individual mailbox, but the needs of the users don't match the default settings. Currently they have COS 3, which allows for no retention time and ('gasp') not a high enough message length max. Could someone please advise how I would do this using Norstar remote utilities? The site is using a NAM 4.0

Thank you in advance!

You need to log onto the NAM using Norstar Voicemail Manager with a crossover cable, assuming you have a NIC installed on the NAM.

Which part of the process? The changing of the COS is fairly straight forward- so I'm guessing you want to know how to connect remotely? It has to be enabled in the NAM onsite first...Once you have set it up onsite, then you can connect either through the virtual modem or a dedicated IP remotely.

Thinking about it, I guess you could enable it via NRU if you had that connection.

If the NAM is R4.0 you must use the Voicemail Manager portion of NRU to edit the classes of service. On R4.1 you can edit class of serice through a system phone. If the NAM has a modem you can also connect through it.

exsmogger,
I've tried using the modem to connect to some older NAMS but have not had success, what goes in the server name or ip address and admin password areas?

Louie Roldan

Yes..my second comment was in reference to the fact that you could enable the modem with NRU

First you setup a dialup networking session to connect to the modem. User name = namaccess, password = log2nam Then you start Voicemail Manager and usually the default IP adress is fine, 192.168.110.10, password = NAM login (ie 1020000). Use another IP address in the dropdown menu if that doesn't work.

bkrike - sorry, I read too fast and misunderstood your last comment.

Hope they never issue a procedure for doing away with the vendor service call, some of you would give away the whole business. Remember servicing equipment is still a business for people in other parts of the country . Experience is a tool just like a butt set, don't loan it all out to the customer (here on the web), you can't get it back when you tell it here. Passwords are in the books don't give a hacker the help on a public forum, they will do all of us harm.

Thank you all for the info! It turns out there was a different COS option that worked for the customer, so I did not have to customize.
