Change colors in photoshop 1

Hello i have a question:

I have to change the color of a car.
It is now white and i have to change it to red.
Only when i change the color it is only one color red, so no reflection of light.
I want to let it look realistic.
How to do that?

Make a selection of the car, excluding obvious bits, like the windows etc.

Create a new layer.

Change the Layer Blending Mode to COLOR

Choose your shade of red, and colour away

OR

With the selection

Layer>New Via Copy

On the New Layer

Image>Adjustments>Hue & Saturation

Chooes Colorize from the bottom right

And change the HUE slider to your desired colour.
