Hi,

I just muddle my way through the installation for my Intel PC. During the installation, I selected 1024x768 screen resolution and found I better tone it down to 800x600 because I need to dig out my magnifying glass to see the web page characters on the Netscape browser.

Is it possible to change the screen resolution on the fly in CDE? If not, I would appreciate for any reference that I can look up to reset the configuration.

Thanks,

Mike

For x86 Solaris there is the kdmconfig configuration tool. For Sparc Systems ther is fbconfig or ffbconfig

There are different kinds of grafic adapters in SUNs. Check /dev/fbs for sym-links to frame buffer devices.. Here is an example:
% ls -altr /dev/fbs/
m640 -> ../../devices/pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/SUNW,m64B@2:m640
ffb0 -> ../../devices/SUNW,ffb@1e,0:ffb0

Depending on what the name of your frame buffer device is, you need a different command to configure that device:
/dev/ffb*
use ffbconfig
/dev/afb*
use afbconfig
/dev/m64*
use m64config
/dev/ifb*
use fbconfig or
use SUNWifb_config

kdmconfig could be the best system utility to get ur resolution changed. Just accept all the settings it detects and change the resolution.
