Client has an answering service for after hours calls. Typically, they'd take off the call forward in the morning, but now has several employees working remotely, so would like to be able to take off the answering service, and forward to a cell phone. Is it possible to change the call forward by dialing in, instead of at an extension?
Thanks much,

If I understand correctly they call forward the pilot line using *72 xxx-xxx-xxxxx? If so no that can't be done remotely.

The only thing you can do remotely is turn it off from the mailbox.

Bell Canada has a service called "Single Number Reach" or SNR, not sure of other countries would call it.
Its a phantom phone number you pay monthly for and you can log into the website and forward to anywhere and any time plus it has other features available or included.

You would need to:
-convert your main number to Single Number Reach
-replace the main number to keep the same amount of lines on site, i.e. ask for another roll over line so you still have 8 lines in this example
-re order/program the lines on the phone system by moving them up one button

Current:
Button programming
Line 1__Line 1
Line 2__Line 2
Line 3__Line 3
Line 4__Line 4
Line 5__Line 5
Line 6__Line 6
Line 7__Line 7
Line 8__Line 8

New setup:
SNR - Main line (Line 1 which is not on system)
Button programming
Line 1__now Line 2
Line 2__now Line 3
Line 3__now Line 4
Line 4__now Line 5
Line 5__now Line 6
Line 6__now Line 7
Line 7__now Line 8
Line 8_now the new psychical rollover line 9 you ordered

So that's
1 phantom numer (line 1)
and
8 physical numbers (line 2 to line 9) which are relabeled/programmed 1 to 8

Bell also used to sell an item to permit this. I have no idea what it's called as I=it was in the $75 range. If it's still availble, then it would do what you want.

Thanks gents.
Curlycord, thanks...I hadn't heard of that from Bell. If I get this right, you can't make outbound calls on this number, since it's just a #, not a line.
During a normal day they would have the SNR directed to their own Line 2, at night they could schedule the SNR to direct to the answering service, and they could log in to direct the SNR to a cell phone if needed. Is that correct?
