OK I have a bit of a strange problem with my sound.
I have standard stereo desktop speakers requiring just one connection to my onboard sound card.
I have a via k8v-x motherboard (amd64) that uses the via_ac97 kernel module.
I dual boot with window xp and am running kernel 2.6.22 on Gentoo Linux.
So I have 2 audio output jacks on my card and one input (mic).
When sound is played on windows, the sound comes out of one audio output, but when on linux it comes out of the other output.
Is there a way to change which output to use? Either in Linux or Windows - it is a pain having to get behind my box and manually move the connector each time I change OS.
I have tried alsamixer and the Jack package but neither seem to have an option to do this.
When I had my old soundblaster plugged in, this wasn't a problem, output came from the same jack for both Linux and Windows XP but I've had to ditch the external sound card due to IRQ sharing problems with some other PCI cards.
Thanks
