Hi, <br>
I am running a pc with win98, and IE5.0. both win98 and IE5.0, when loaded, give you the ability to customize your folders with your own html, and javascript, etc.<br>
<br>
I want to know if I can access the default .html file for all of the folders, so I don't have to edit them all individually?<br>
<br>
thanks <p>theEclipse<br><a href=mailto:eclipse_web@hotmail.com>eclipse_web@hotmail.com</a><br><a href=robacarp.webjump.com>robacarp.webjump.com</a><br>**-Trying to build a documentation of a Javascript DOM, crossbrowser, of course. E-mail me if you know of any little known events and/or methods, etc.

Have you tried going to View... Folder Options<br>
(under the winows explorer) and chosing &quot;Make all folders like current&quot; <p>Karl<br><a href=mailto:kb244@kb244.8m.com>kb244@kb244.8m.com</a><br><a href= </a><br>Experienced in , or have messed with : VC++, Borland C++ Builder, VJ++6(starting),VB-Dos, VB1 thru VB6, Delphi 3 pro, Borland C++ 3(DOS), Borland C++ 4.5, HTML, ASP(somewhat), QBasic(least i didnt start with COBOL)

Hey all,<br><br>guess what, good things come to those who wait!<br><br>I finally figured out how to do this.<br><br>sorry kb244, your solution only works for the folder options. That has nothing to do with folders .html file.<br><br>Directions:<br>1) navigate to c:\windows\web<br><br>2) (if you can see hidden files, skip this step)<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;- GO View&gt;Folder Options<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;- Click on the View tab<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;- Scroll down, until you see the hidden files section.<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;- make sure that the Show all files button is selected<br><br>3) Scroll down, and look for the file called FOLDER.HTT, It should be faded.<br><br>4) Right click on it and select Open With..., and from the list, select Notepad.exe<br><br>5) Also, click the &quot;Use this program to open this type..&quot; check box, and click OK<br><br>6) You can modify that .html (or .HTT) file in anyway you wish, but remember, you are modifying most of the systems folder's view, so don't make it password protected or anything.<br><br>7) Save, and close notepad. Any changes you make will appear in all folders, from now on.<br><br>NOTE: After this, all .HTT files will be opened by windows notepad, you may now just dbl-click on a .HTT file, and it will open in notepad.<br>To avoid this, don't check the checkbox in the Open With... dialouge box.<br><br>------------------------------------------------------------<br><br>If you want to modify the system folders (c:\windows, c:\windows\system, My Computer, etc.), then, check this out:<br><br>** c:\windows\system, and c:\windows, have their own .htt file. Modify that, and you will modify the way the folder looks.<br><br>the folders<br>My Computer, Control Panel,the ftp folder(???), network neighborhood, Printers, recycle bin, and task scheduler all have their own .htt file too, but it is not in that folder.<br>Its .htt file is in the &quot;c:\windows\web&quot; folder. so it the webview.css file that they all refrence too.<br><br>Good ridence to the old windows!!!<br> <p>theEclipse<br><a href=mailto:eclipse_web@hotmail.com>eclipse_web@hotmail.com</a><br><a href=robacarp.webjump.com>robacarp.webjump.com</a><br>**-Trying to build a documentation of a Javascript DOM, crossbrowser, of course.
