I'm working with a table with about 200 fields, all of which have completely non-sensicle field names (i.e. application01, application02, etc). Is there a way to change the names of the fields in Crystal so that they will be easier to identify when creating reports?

You can create a View on the database, or a UNIVERSE meta-data layer if you are using the full Business Objects Enterprise XI suite of tools.

Or you can use a command so that you can add aliases for the fields.

Thanks for the information. When you say to write a command, do you mean on the db, or is this something that can be done in Crystal?

If you have any version 9.0+, go to the database expert and above the list of tables, you should see "Add command". You can enter your query there (or copy it from another report), adding alias names to the fields. If you are using parameters, build them in the command screen in the area to the right.
