HI

We have a 3300 with 10 handsets, at the moment the 3300 is running DHCP but is on a seperate LAN to our domain. I want to move the phones onto the same network but the DHCP will clash with or DCs DHCP. Can I setup the phones to use a static IP address?

Hold either the UP arrow or teh 9 button as you power up the set.

Why don't set your DCs DHCP to assign addresses to phones?

Also I use "Teleworker" option and point phones to specific 3300 controller.

Hold 7 button as you power up your phone, follow on-screen instructions. Then the phone will not look for MITEL specific DHCP options and grab any offer with IP/Mask/Gateway information and assume that TFTP and ICP is located on the host you just entered.

The other option is to keep the 3300 handing out DHCP to the phone ONLY.

How to program the 3300 DHCP server to only serve Mitel IP Phones

In order to prevent any other device except a Mitel IP Phone from getting an IP from the Mitel DHCP server, follow these steps

1. Give your IP Address Range the following name: ipphone.mitel.com
2. Enable the Client's class ID must match name option in the IP Range.

This causes the DHCP server to ignore all non-mitel IP Phone requests for an IP address. Please note that controller must be running 7.0 software or higher. As well if any new phones are added, then this option needs to be turned off until they upgrade their flash for the first time.

I like this option because it is easy to control from an installer perspective. The Mitel IP phones may still receive an IP address from the other DHCP server but it will immediately reject it if the proper DHCP options are not included and send out another DHCP request.
