I posted this in the Exchange forum, but thought I might have more luck over here.

Windows SBS 2003 with Exchange 2003. Only server in the environment.

Issue: In ESM I unchecked inherit permissions for both the servername and mailbox store. Once I did this my public folder store is the only item listed in my first storage group. I also cannot change the mailbox rights for the user in AD, Exchange Advaced Tab, it returns the error

"There is no such object on the server"
Facility Win32
ID no c0072030
Microsoft Active Directory - Exchange Extention

Now I can still access email out of the mailbox store, so I know it is still there and working. I just seem to have wiped it out of AD?

I also went into asdi edit mode to try and check the permissions for the mailbox store. When I drill down it does show both my public folder store and mailbox store. I can access the properties of the public folder store only. When I try the properties of the mailbox store it says...
"An invalid directory pathname was passed."

The only difference I see between the two listed in asdi is that under the class column nothing is listed for mailbox store, msexchpublicmdb is listed in the class column for public folders.

Any suggestions.........
