Can anyone tell me if I should need to use a xover cable for chaining these two switches? I'm not planning on using the gbic slot on the 3524 since I don't need gb between these switches.

I've found online that I should keep spanning-tree portfast disabled, but I'm a bit new to these 2960's and there's commands I remember using in the past that aren't there anymore.

I'm guessing it's not a problem to uplink the 3524 on one of the standard 10/100 ports to one of the 10/100/1000 ports on the 2960, it's just I don't have the hardware right now for testing it. I'm in the middle of planning a project and I just want to be sure that these can be linked this way.

Thanks for any adivce!

Switch to Switch = xover cable

Port fast I'd keep disabled or run RSTP if you can.

A 2960 will do MDIXauto, so either a crossover or a straight-through cable should work.
