Hello-
I have inherited a site to maintain simply because I knew a little html. All was well until our web host decided to switch servers. Everything got messed up and I was told to back up my site, they would wipe it clean and I could reload. I uploaded my backed up site and now am getting this error:

CGIWrap Error: Execution of this script not permitted

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Execution of (jobs-view.pl) is not permitted for the following reason:

Script is not executable. Issue 'chmod 755 filename'
This is an issue with the permissions of the script itself, not of the web server or it's configuration. The permission of the script must be fixed by the owner of the site.

My biggest problem is that I have no idea what permissions are, much less how to fix them, and cgi is not my native tongue. Any assistance whatsoever would be extremely appreciated. My site is: legalnw.com, the scripts I'm having problems with are under "job listings" and "top candidates". I am happy to copy them here if that seems useful.
Thank you in advance!
Jill

You're going to have to change the permissions on all your scripts

Your FTP client where you uploaded the scripts to your executable directory should have an option to change the properties of the file - what ftp client are you using, or have you access to telnet or ssh on the server?

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your help. I am using BulletproofFTP. I have a CGI-BIN folder, with the scripts in it. Do I manually change each script somehow, and if so, what do I change and to what?
Thanks again,
Jill

Select all the script files in the server window, right click, and select change attributes, you can set the desired attributes or simply change the number in the text box to 755
