CFNA Steals call from Transfer Callback

I have a MICS 4.1 with NAM 4.0. with PRI with DID's on the extensions. The customer would like unanswered calls to the DIDs to go to the user's voicemail. The customer also wants the receptionist to be able to transfer calls from the main number to extensions and have them ring back to the receptionist if they are unanswered.

I have set CFNA on the stations to 6 rings and Transfer Callback to 3 rings. Here's the problem. Transferred calls do ring back to the receptionist after 3 rings, however, if she does not pick up the callback within 3 rings (i.e. 6th total ring) the caller is sent to the voicemail of the station the call was initially transferred to. (i.e. the CFNA of the extension is still counting rings after the transfer callback takes place). Is this by design? Is there any other way to acheive what the customer wants to do so that transfer callbacks do not end up in the voicemails?

This is by design.
Transfer callback returns the call to the originating station after the duration timer expires eg 3 rings.
Example:
If call is answered by AA calls will be returned to AA where AA will then deposit caller into the user's voicemail box via transfer callback timer.

Aragon - Thanks for your reply. It seems a little strange that the CFNA on the destination extension would still forward the call after the Transfer Callback timer had kicked it back to the receptionist. In the scenario above, on the 4th ring it begins to ring at the receptionist station, so why would the CFNA of the destination extension continue to count rings and forward it to the users voicemail after the 6th if the receptionist doesn't answer? Very bizarre if by design. Do you think this is handled differently in the newer software?

Your configuration is likely incorrect if both DN's continue to ring then transfer callback in not the culprit.
It is likely that your target lines are prime to reception.
They should be prime to the DID set.
DID Calls that are assigned to the DN's correctly will forward no answer and transfer callback is irrelevant since they were never transferred initially.
Calls answered by reception and transferred would also follow the same rules applied to CFNA which could also be set to 3 rings and transfer callback would still be irrelevant.
Check the FAQ's on the correct assignment of DID's.
