Hi All,

can any one help me with this
SAN team added 30 gb of space on a p5 box and there are 3 lpars in that how can i add that 30 gb space to one particular lpar so that i can create fs on it.

Thanks in advance

Ok! first of all, i assume that the SAN team created LUN(s) for your P5 box with a total of 30GB capacity. After that the SAN team should create for you mapping for those LUNs to your P5 Fiber Channels attached to the SAN switch (they will need to know the Hardware Address of your FC or it might appear to them automatically in the SAN). Provided that your SAN switch zoning is set up correctly, All you need to know is which Fiber Channel has been mapped with the allocated SAN storage so you can assign it to the LPAR you need the space for.

It is a bit lengthy procedure but it can be summarized as follows:

1. You first need to assign a Fiber Channel to your LPAR (one of the three for example).
2. Give the Fiber Channel Hardware Address to the SAN team.
3. SAN team will create the LUN (logical disk) on SAN.
4. SAN team will have to map the created logical disk to your Fiber channel hardware address that you provided.
5. SAN team will have to make sure that the logical disks are visible to your LPAR by configuring the SAN switch (zoning).
6. When all of the above has been done, all what you are left with is to login to the LPAR and issue cfgmgr to view the disks in your LPAR.

Hope this is clear. If not please let me know so i can clarify it more.

Regards,
Khalid
