Just replaced our SBS2003 server with a SBS2008 unit.
Everything ok but for the following:-

System has a self issued SSL certificate - ok
Collect mail via pop 3 - works ok
No fixed ip address (cannot get one from our ISP) so connect via dyndns - ok

The problem is with mobile phones connecting to the exchange server. The certificate is issued via the server and loaded onto the wm6.1 handsets, but I presume they cannot connect because the certificate is for our domain name k*****.co.uk and not k*****.dyndns.org

Is there a way around this, according to the dyndns website a godaddy certificate or any other 3rd party certificate will not work either.

Any info or workarounds appreciated

Get a new ISP, it is ridiculous that a business doesn't have a static IP.

You can create a self signed certificate to match the DYNDNS name, but you will find it is a pain to manage. You have to manually install a self signed certificate on the PocketPCs.

My recommendation is that you focus your efforts on correcting the real problem which is in your infrastructure offering. Get a DSL connection, cable Internet, whatever you can that will offer you a static IP and then get yourself a GoDaddy or Thawte certificate and your headaches will go away.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
